A gost village
Some people are very bold, some are coward, and some are not sure about themselves, unless they get come across such horrifying incidence or happening. However, in general every one one us has tendency to get scared, more or less.
My present story is something of this kind.
Once upon a time, there was a village called Sultanpur. People living in this village were generally farmers by profession. While some of them are building coats and weaving cloths. They were very friendly and use to sit together after a day’s hectic work schedule. Even kids and females use to wait for the evening, when they can come out of their houses to sit together with others to chat and play. Everything was going on very smoothly and everyone was very happy this way.
One day, one rich farmer decided to marry his only daughter. He started looking for prospective grooms in his own village and near villages. Finally he found a good match for his daughter. The boy is well educated and is working in city. He says he is willing to marry this girl, but would like to take her to city once before the marriage so that she is aware of the life style there and it will help her adjust better after marriage when she leaves all her family and friends and goes to a new place for rest of life.
The girl is very exited with the proposition, while the parents and other relatives and friends, being akk villagers were very conservative and did not like the idea. As they could not say no, to the would be groom, they send the girl to city with for a day. They come back late in the night and the girl seems to be very haapy after seeing the life style of the city.
Now, the day of marriage is fixed and preparation for marriage eventually started. The rich farmer wanted to give everything which can make his daughter’s life comfortable after marriage. In this process, he orders lots of jewelry, cloths, furniture etc. Every day vendors were coming to their house to deliver something or else. This process was now getting completed as the day of marriage is approaching. Farmer got lavish furniture for his daughter. While the vendor checks the list, he found out that one item “mirror” is still not delivered. He tells his workers to deliver that as well, before it is late, as in the village there is no electricity and fear that mirror could break if they hit something in the night in the darkness.
However, as the men already had too much to do during that day, they managed to start for the shop for delivery of the mirror only late in the evening. While they were moving they were very careful so that the mirror reaches safely. Otherwise they would not only lose their jobs, but have to pay for the mirror also. Poor both, they kept moving slowly step-by-step. Suddenly, one of them heard the sound of bells ringing (by ornament generally worn by females in village). He thought, perhaps he is day dreaming, as in the village, females don’t come out of house after it is getting dark in the evening. But what is this sound then, one of them suddenly stopped, as he is very scared and asks his co-fellow, that whether he heard something. As this fellow is hard of hearing he says, no I did not. This makes, him all the more suspicious and scared. As the sound came closer, now it can be clearly heard by both of them. But by now it is dark on the road and they can’t see anything clearly.
Weird thoughts and images starts crossing their minds, like is there any witch, or any mad person roaming there or is it some GHOST. What if it is a real ghost, “A female Ghost” . The thought of this, even made them sweat badly. They are new to this place and thought people must be knowing about this Ghost and that is why no one is there outside their house even in the evening. So they talked to each other and decided that they will leave the mirror here only. They thought, they can earn much more only if they are spared by the ghost. For the mirror, they decided that can be delivered, If the mirror remains alright they will deliver it tomorrow morning.
So both of them ran away from there. Next day they returned to the site early in the morning and were happy to find the mirror intact. They rushed to deliver it and wanted to return to their work shop in time. When they reached the rich farmers house, they told the family the whole episode, but this time, they mixed their imagination with what they heard and made them believe there is some ghost in the village.
Now what happened to the sound, who was there, making this sound at that time, is there a real ghost or is it some animal or mad person, only and only questions on every ones mouth and no answer. The story spread from one person to another and got twists and turns. The existence of ghost started to become more and more real. Everybody is very scared and don’t want to move out of house after evening, how urgent it may be. Most important was that it affected the marriage and the boy’s family refused to marry in the Ghost Village.
While everyone was just scared and wanted to talk about ghost or the bad luck of the bride, the brother of bride decided to volunteer for night vigilance. Even when everyone tried to stop him, he said he is not scared and does not believe in the ghost. In spite of every one’s opposition he started guarding the village on the path, where ghost was believed to roam in the night. Nothing is seen or heard for next few days. So people thought that ghost may have appearred due to mirror. So he carried mirror with him, now he heard the sound, but he was very bold, and but he also got a bit scared. When he heard the sound coming very close, he assembled himself and suddenly lighted a candle. Suddenly the whole place turned out into loud shouting noises made by many people together. He spoke loudly and told all of them to stop and asked who they are and why they are scaring others like ghost. Those poor people said they did not do anything intentionally. They belong to a very far away poor village and have come here for work. Since, they return from work very late, they use to make this bells sound to scare the wild animals roaming there, so that they are not beaten by them. This boy finally takes them to village and tells them to narrate the truth to everyone and by end of day everybody is laughing. Now the boy’s family returns and feels sorry for their mistake and the marriage takes place with full josh.
